Chat is live!!!
Chat is live and working! Check it out on the customer homepage: LetterRep.com
Want to be part of the testers? Upload a pic!
For this early stage of chat we limited the testers to those who had at least 10 letters and who had uploaded a pic. Unfortunately, this criteria prevented lots of prolific writers, some with hundreds of letters but no picture uploaded, from being testers.
Upload your pic today so we can add you to the test group.
Let me know when you have so I can add you to the group. (admin[at]letterrep.com)

Not to attempt domination of the comment box…
BUT - YES, YES, Y E S!!!
ROB, the chat works GREAT! Not a crash in sight for a full on 30 minutes now! Have already corresponded with 1 “customer” and the action is FAST, Hoss!
Whoever wrote the script or application did a wonderful job!
THANK YOU for the opportunity!

Thanks Rick,
It’s slow going now. I am trying to figure out how to write the copy so it makes sense around chat. We’ll get there in time.
I’m glad you like it. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hi Rob & everyone —
The new chat & writer photo features look great. I’m logged on now & will log on often to be available for chats with customers. Also will take your suggestion, Rob, & contact my past customers.
I’ve also been practicing using the ’search’ feature with my letters & have encountered a snafu. I’m noticing that sometimes the search brings up letters that have no connection to the word I put in the search string, either in the title or body of the letter…e.g., I typed ‘dental’ into the search string & 6 letters came up, 3 of which had ‘dental’ somewhere in the letter & 3 of which did not. I tried this several times with different keywords & sometimes the snafu happened & sometimes not.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Onward with more testing…

I’m noticing some problematic things about the ’scrolling’ feature today… 1) When I move my cursor to ’scroll left,’ the scroll bar moves VERY sluggishly and 2) jumps back to the original 6 photos before reaching any other photos in the string. So, in essence, the only photos visible are the first 6.
I did see that my photo appeared all the way to the left (i.e, first in line) once I logged on & remains there as I am logged in. However, it is impossible to scroll along & see beyond the first 6 writers’ pics. Is this intentional? i.e., as other writers log in, will more pics be visible along that scroll bar?

@Jo,
I’m toying with the copy on the homepage at the moment trying to rewrite the site a little to meet the new features. Really, up until now LetterRep has been a place where someone could either buy a letter or submit an request, anonymously if they wished. Now it’s a place where they see faces and have to interact with those faces. It’s going to take a little time even for returning customers to get used to that and a little time for me to get the copy sounding right.
If you, or anyone, has any ideas about the copy, let me know.

@Chaz,
Thanks for the heads-up about the search. I’ll pass it on to the development team.
We are aware of the scrolling problem and we’re working on it now. It’s the top priority at the moment.
Glad you like the chat.

Hi Rob, sorry to be a pest; am wondering where the usefulness of the actual ‘PROFILE WORDING’ comes in with regard to our PHOTO, as the “CHATTERS” I’ve spoken with were unable to actually access the dialogue portions of the profile…
Is this simply for “LETTER REP’ ADMIN” information?
